Storyteller | Filmmaker | Educator
I’m an independent documentary filmmaker and educator from the Appalachian corner of western Maryland. My work explores stories that connect people to place and challenge the stereotypes often associated with the region. I believe in the power of storytelling to build empathy, bridge divides, and celebrate the resilience and diversity of Appalachia.
I earned my BA in Mass Communication with a focus on video production from Frostburg State University and an MFA in Documentary Film from Wake Forest University, where I produced Finding Home (2022), a film about refugees living in West Virginia. It later aired on WV PBS and screened at multiple regional festivals.
Currently, I teach film production at UNC Charlotte and serve as Manager of Advanced Learning Projects at Wake Forest University, helping faculty and students tell stories through digital media in new and creative ways.
My recent projects include the animated short Afungus Amoungus, which won the Audience Award at the Indigo Moon Film Festival, and Sweet Appalachia: The Story of DelFest, a documentary highlighting music and community in Western Maryland.
